After almost 7 months, I think I’m getting to know better of what and how to approach this year. Kinda slow, eh..taking 7 months out of 1 year to figure out the whats and hows..but better late than never..hehe.
…
One thing that I’ve recently "discovered"..or maybe I should say finally accepted (coz it’s a simple truth anyway)..is about "feeling good" vs "getting the correct result". Many times we do things and putting some (few?) efforts in the name of "(at least) I TRY". This approach most likely won’t yield a satisfactory result, however, may generate some good feelings, a self satisfaction that we use to compensate the "failure" of not getting what we really want. Btw, let’s put aside the concept of destiny on this conversation for a while, ok?
…
On the other hand, there is another approach that may not generate "good feeling" in short run but may guarantee "the correct results" in the long run. The approach is a combination of "FOCUS" and "DISCIPLINE". It requires planning which many of us feels it like a pain in the ass thing and not fun coz it eliminates the spontaneity and forces us to think ahead with all the probabilities. Also, focusing on something will limit our options and I guess many of us doesn’t like such feeling. I think many of us prefer to bring a machine gun instead of a sniper’s type of gun. And as you know..to be a sniper requires a strict discipline..hours of training, working hard, and the mental ability to focus on 1 target at one particular time and a solid execution.
…
Looking through what I’ve done so far this year, I think many of them fell into the "good feeling" category above. I didn’t plan well and I didn’t put a strong determination to reach my goals. Well..having said that, at the end of the day, this posting reflects a similar theme with my previous posting below. "Ora et labora" shouldn’t be translated word by word and applied plainly. I guess I need to "work smart, pray hard"..and forget about "play hard" for a while. Have a nice Sunday, my friends.

Akhir2 ini gue berusaha untuk convince myself that it’s ok to just take it easy..to just "survive" dan pada akhirnya toh things will be alright. However, after taking the time management training from Franklin Covey (boss, thanks a lot for the chance)..gue seperti disadarkan bahwa gue tuh sebenarnya lagi jalan sambil tidur..wasting the most precious thing, my time, by hitting so many wrong targets with false mindset.
…
Kenapa harus jadi biasa2 aja kl memang bisa jadi yg terbaik??? Siapa membohongi siapa sebenarnya? Pemikiran yg bodoh!!! "Manusia berusaha Tuhan menentukan" katanya. Bener, tapi emang gue..lu..kita..kalian..udah berusaha?! Dan kalaupun udah usaha..emang usahanya bener? Gimana mungkin usahanya bener kalo mindset-nya salah??? Usahanya salah = hasil ga ada = frustrasi dan akhirnya kalimat mutiara di atas terucap. Come on..kenapa kok malah Tuhan yg "disalahkan"?
…
ENOUGH! TIME TO WAKE UP! Gue masih punya waktu 5 bulan lagi untuk menutup tahun ini sebagai PEMENANG! I am putting all my efforts..all the energy level..and I pray to you, Heavenly Father, to bless your son here. Amen!

I watched a J-dorama at wowow last night and I saw the face in this picture for the "first time". I could catch the movie title, which was "Namida Sou Sou", but I missed her name. So, today I asked my colleagues at the office and I found out that her name is Masami Nagasawa. When I told them that I never saw her before in TV, all of them was laughing at me and saying "dude, you’ve been living in Japan for about 5 years and you don’t know her? Where have you been!?".
…
Anyway, I did some research about her just now and what I found just inspired me to write this posting. I found that she was announced as the "Woman Most Men Want To Marry" in a survey on June 2007 that was done by Oricon and was released under the title "June
Brides". The first thing that came to my mind was..finally, fellow Japanese men made a right choice after having Kumi Koda and Ebi-chan on the top of many pollings. The second thought was..is she that lovely as well in real life? Well..stupid question of course..who cares anyway, right? hehe..
…
Humm..woman most men want to marry..I guess I would be among those who had voted for her..hehe. Don’t agree with us? Go..watch the movie..and I’m sure many of you will join the crowd
…
Last question from me..when will I meet the woman I most want to marry??? haha..

READ: 1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and . . . run with endurance the race. —Hebrews 12:1
Chris Couch was
only 16 years old when he first qualified to play golf at its highest
level on the PGA Tour. He was quickly declared the next golfing prodigy
and a surefire success for years to come.
Life, however, turned
out to be more of a grind. Chris did not enjoy a sprint to success but
endured a marathon that would take 16 years and 3 different stints on
“mini-tours.” Tempted to quit, Couch persevered and finally, at age 32,
became a Tour winner for the first time when he captured the New
Orleans Open in a thrilling finish. His persistence had paid off, but
it had not been easy.
In his book A Long Obedience in the Same Direction,
Bible teacher Eugene Peterson reminds us that the Christian life has
much more in common with a marathon than with a 100-meter dash.
Peterson says we are called to persevere in “the long run, something
that makes life worth living.”
With the grace and strength of
Christ, we too can “run with endurance” this race of life (Heb. 12:1).
And, with our Lord’s example to help and encourage us, we can, like the
apostle Paul, run to win the prize of “an imperishable crown” (1 Cor.
9:25).
It’s always too soon to quit. —Bill Crowder
O for a faith that will not shrink,
Though pressed by every foe,
That will not tremble on the brink
Of any earthly woe. —Bathurst
Run the race with eternity in view.

24Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.
25Everyone
who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get
a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last
forever. 26Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. 27No,
I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to
others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

Finally, I got my MacBook Pro
I fell in love with Apple since I bought my first iPod about 2 years ago and been thinking to get mac eversince. As the price is quite expensive, finally I have enough dough to spend on it. Now, I’m a proud and happy user of mac…just need to learn more on how to maximise it. Any tips on where to look for information?

I like reading since I was a kid. The habit actually stays strong as I grow older and become a need in my life. Luckily, even when I couldn’t afford to buy books, God always gave me ways to have access to good reading materials. I remember during my undergrad time with "eat today, pay tomorrow" lifetyle, I couldn’t buy books that I wanted..many times I visited a small book shop in a corner of Dago street, which had many interesting books and not sealed, and just read there. Also, when I was completely broke during my early journey in Tokyo, I went to Kinokuniya in Shinjuku almost everyday to read books standing.
…
With good paycheck now, I began to invest my money on books.
Whenever I feel to learn something, Amazon will be one of the best sources to get the materials I need. After almost 3 years, my personal library has grown to a diverse collection and some of it can be seen in this picture. Those books range from simple things like recipe book and clothing to serious books about business and investment. I have to say praise the Lord for such blessings
…
Take a look at the picture again..you can see there are 3 items that intertwined strongly and major in our lives, well at least to my life.
- BOOK
It represents knowledge and if it’s exercised in positive ways, it will be fruitful. Nevertheless, having many books doesn’t mean we have the knowledge if we don’t put effort to read and understand the contents. Frequently, we buy a book and leave it covered by dust without ever going through more than 10 pages because we keep saying to ourselves that we don’t have the precious thing that symbolised by the next item.
- CLOCK
Yes, time! When we keep coming with excuses for not reading a book or building our knowledge, is it really because we do not have the time or it’s just we think we don’t have time? I often hear people refuse to read books and saying that real knowledge is out there, we should go out and experience it first hand. Aha. Do we actually have the luxury of having the chances to experience everything we want to know? Maybe, a more fundamental question is..do we have to reinvent the wheel? Time is so precious, once it goes it never comes back. So, be wise.
- GLOBE
World. Earth. The Blue Planet. For each moment of time, we live in a certain dot on the earth. However, we live in a quite long span of life and we can choose whether we want to spend our lives only in 1 small dot for good or having experience living in many dots in the world. A luxury? Maybe..but just remember that God creates human with limitless possibilities, so anything is possible. How? I guess there are two things that may make it possible: time and knowledge..
…
So, you can choose one of the questions below, ask it to yourself, and answer it honestly in your mind:
What can you do or be in the world when you have the time and knowledge???
or
What do you want to do or be in the world when you have the time and knowledge???
…
Feel free to share your opinions here, my friends
Have a great week ahead and God bless you all!
